Now that we are leaving a rainy winter behind us and the sun is showing itself again, it’s time to go outside and enjoy those much loved rays of sunshine. While it is still cold, the sun is already providing a lot of warmth and adds a certain lightness to life again. These days of spring ask for an outfit that has displays spring’s brightness while at the same time still providing enough warmth. Inspiration for this outfit  comes from the classics, where Ivy League meets Steve McQueen for a rugged edge.

If you say Ivy, you say OCBD. This white Oxford Cloth Button Down shirt from Gitman Vintage is a real classic. The fabric becomes softer and softer with each time you wash and wear it and the collar has a nice roll. It’s easy to wear with anything you like. Dress it up with a Caruso blazer, Drake’s regimental tie and a pair of Incotex slacks. Or keep it casual, like in this outfit, and add some jeans. Go for the Orslow 105 in a 4 year wash and turn up those cuffs once or twice to show those Alden Chukkas in a brown suede.

To keep you jeans up, why not go for the Anderson’s x Frans Boone western belt in a brown nubuck. Something different, something rugged, but still classic. It’s not like a big Texas style western belt with a buckle the size of a breakfast plate. No, this one’s subtle, with a belt width of only an inch.

Next up is the warm layer. A cosy and extremely soft vest, the William Lockie Windsor Cashmere Shawl Collar in dark natural. The natural color is light enough to match the spring weather and the 4 ply cashmere keeps your back warm, while you turn your face towards these first rays of sunshine of the season.

As the colors in this outfit are light and soft, let’s go for a pair of Pantherella Packtington wool socks in wine, which adds a little bit of contrast and playfulness to this outfit.

Now that we’re dressed, pick up that Double RL Camp Blanket and a picknick basket and take you better half out for that first picknick of the season. Beach, park, or just your own back yard. Or just settle yourself in your outdoor home office.
